‘Has Mark Zuckerberg taken a pay cut?’: Laid-off Meta employee

Share via:

The former Meta employee, ‘Andi Allen’ expressed her frustration on social media with Facebook’s leadership for miscalculating so severely that they had to lay off thousands of employees.

Recently, Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta announced that it would be cutting 10,000 jobs in its latest round of layoffs. This comes after the company laid off over 11,000 employees the previous year. Andi Allen, a senior technical recruiter at Meta, was also laid off during the second round of layoffs. What is shocking is that she was let go during her maternity leave. Allen wrote a substantial post against Meta’s management that failed to foresee the issues mentioned by Mark Zuckerberg in his memo to the employees.

On the contrary, the Meta board raised the budget of Mark Zuckerberg’s security, from $10 million to $14 million.

“I was part of today’s #metalayoffs while on maternity leave. I understand changes in market trends and focus on the business’s bottom line. I don’t understand how #metaleadership miscalculated so badly that they had to lay off thousands of employees, and yet still want to claim that they care about the people who work for them. Has Mark Zuckerberg taken a pay cut? My recruiting team was top-notch, and I loved the teams we supported, but #meta’s handling of this situation is appalling.”, said Andi Allen.

It is evident in this post, Meta’s actions have left their employees feeling betrayed and unsupported. Not just this, the news of Meta’s layoff caused concern in the Big Tech industry as many fear an economic downshift.
