Just like cracks in a wall can be fixed using cement, researchers at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have developed a bacteria-based technique to repair bricks that can be used to build lunar habitats if they get damaged in the moon’s harsh environment.

After a successful experiment on earth, the team is now working on a proposal to send a sample of the bacteria into space as part of the Gaganyaan mission to study its behaviour in microgravity.
