Artificial intelligence can bring in productivity gains for both IT companies and their customers as they could get the same work done with fewer people at a reduced cost, a top executive at Tata Consultancy Services said, amid concerns about the technology cannibalising IT industry revenue.

The cost reduction and the volume it could bring in would help insulate profit margins from impact of any cut in deal values, said Samir Seksaria, the chief financial officer at India’s top IT services company.
