OpenAI is working on a social media network similar to X, The Verge reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The internal prototype is said to centre around ChatGPT’s image-generation tools and features a social feed-style interface. The project remains in early development, and OpenAI cofounder and chief executive officer Sam Altman has been privately seeking feedback from external parties, the report said.

It is currently unclear whether the social platform will be launched as a standalone app or integrated within ChatGPT.
