As Meta Platforms battles the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in a closely watched antitrust trial, a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report has revealed that chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg had offered up to $1 billion to settle the case earlier this year.

The report added that in March, Zuckerberg reportedly approached FTC chairman Andrew Ferguson with an initial offer of $450 million. As the trial date neared, that offer was increased to $1 billion.
