Online gaming startup WinZO has approached the Delhi High Court seeking to be listed on the Google Play Store as a game of skill. The gaming startup was seeking a declaration that the games offered by it are games of skill and in compliance with the Indian laws. The startup has also claimed in its plea that WinZO develops games of skill.
The move comes after Google removed over 400 gaming applications from its Play Store in India in 2020, citing their violation of the company’s policies on gambling and betting. WinZO had also been taken down from the Play Store last year, but was reinstated after three months.
WinZO is seeking the court’s declaration to ensure that its games can be listed on the Play Store without any issues in the future. The startup claims to have more than 100 million users and offers games in 12 languages, including English, Hindi, and Gujarati.
