A few days ago, Microsoft sent shockwaves through the tech industry — and the working world at large — by cutting 3% of its global workforce: some 6,000 jobs, in favour of AI integration. The cuts affected various roles, including software engineers and managerial positions, with some employees reportedly being laid off through algorithmic assessments.

Suddenly, “Will AI come for my job?” appeared to change to, “When will AI come for my job?”

However, things are not that cut and dry.
