Starlink gets regulatory nod from IN-SPACe, inches closer to India launch

Elon Musk’s satellite internet venture, Starlink, has cleared a major regulatory hurdle in India, receiving authorisation from the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) to deploy its Gen1 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation over India. The approval enables SSCPL to provide satellite-based communication services in the country.

The authorisation is valid for five years or until the end of the Gen1 constellation’s operational life, whichever comes first. The rollout remains subject to further regulatory…
