xAI’s infrastructure head Uday Ruddarraju resigns, joins OpenAI

Uday Ruddarraju, Head of Infrastructure Engineering at xAI the artificial intelligence company founded by Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced his resignation after more than a year with the firm.

Ruddarraju confirmed his departure in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, describing his time at xAI as an “unforgettable ride.”

During his tenure, Ruddarraju played a central role in developing Colossus, a supercomputer equipped with over 200,000 GPUs, and in training Grok 3, the company’s latest AI model.
