Three years after launching the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) with an outlay of ₹76,000 crore, the country’s first fully indigenous semiconductor chip was unveiled at the Semicon India 2025 event on Tuesday (September 2).

Developed at ISRO’s Semi-Conductor Laboratory, the Vikram 32-bit processor is designed to operate in the harsh conditions of launch vehicles.

Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also showcased test chips from four approved projects.
