Investment applications from Chinese firms under the electronic component manufacturing scheme (ECMS) will be considered, provided they commit to significant technology transfers and enable the skilling of local talent, officials said.

This would also boost the prospects of Chinese joint venture (JV) proposals clearing the hurdle of heightened government scrutiny currently mandated for investments from neighbouring countries, according to a Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) official.
