‘Never been more embarrassed’: Lawyer cites fake cases in AI-aided response to SC

In a shocking incident, a lawyer filed a response in the Supreme Court (SC) with the help of AI tools which cited hundreds of fake cases that were not in any judicial record, according to a report by the Times of India.

Senior advocate CA Sundaram, who was representing Deepak Raheja, a promoter of Gstaad Hotels, Bengaluru, said he had “never been more embarrassed”, admitting his mistake. The matter was brought to attention by opposing counsel Neeraj Kishan Kaul, who flagged the response filled with fake cases before a bench of Justices Dipankar Datta…
