Snap Inc, the parent company of popular app Snapchat, achieves 200 million monthly active users in India. According to the company’s statement, over 120 million Indian users, known as ‘Snapchatters,’ engage with content on Stories and Spotlight every month. The statement also highlights that Indian users’ time spent on Spotlight, Snapchat’s user-generated entertainment feed, has significantly increased, more than tripling in volume.

In 2021, Snap Inc announced surpassing the significant milestone of 60 million users in India. In alignment with its remarkable growth in the country, the company is actively expanding its team and bolstering its operations through the recruitment of professionals across diverse roles.

“I am thrilled to have joined Snap at a time when the momentum among our Indian community has never been stronger,” said Ajit Mohan, President, APAC, Snap Inc. “We see incredible potential for partners, creators, and brands to build communities and businesses on Snapchat, and we couldn’t be more excited about our future.”

Snapchat reveals that Indian users engage with Augmented Reality (AR) Lenses more than 50 billion times per month, with over 85% utilizing Lenses to express themselves visually during festive periods. In FY22, Snapchat experienced a 12% year-on-year increase, generating $4.6 billion in revenue. However, the company has not yet achieved an annual profit, incurring losses of $1.4 billion in 2022.

According to reports, although India represents a smaller market for Snapchat, both its revenue and profit from Indian operations have shown growth, reaching Rs 65.8 crore and Rs 6.2 crore, respectively, in FY22. Snapchat emphasizes its commitment to assisting creators in building audiences, offering opportunities to monetize and access their content.
