Bel Egypt, a leading food production company, continues to play a vital role in driving Egypt’s economic growth while establishing itself as a central hub for regional and global exports. With nearly €150 million invested over the past 28 years, Bel Egypt has become a cornerstone of Bel Group’s industrial strategy, enhancing its production capabilities, supporting sustainable practices, and strengthening the country’s export position.
Strategic Investment for Industrial Growth
Bel Egypt recently hosted a media tour of its state-of-the-art facility located in 10th of Ramadan City, showcasing its commitment to industrial excellence and forward-thinking growth. The plant, which spans an impressive 28,720 square meters, serves as a key pillar in Bel Group’s growth model, which balances profitability and sustainability. The company has invested in new production lines, enhancing its capacity to meet the growing demand for its products across multiple markets.
Equipped with 25 cheese production lines and six advanced packaging machines, the facility employs cutting-edge digital operating systems to ensure operational efficiency and top-notch food safety standards. The plant produces some of Bel’s most popular brands, including The Laughing Cow®, Kiri® Triangles, and Picon®, all of which align with the company’s Positive Nutrition approach. This strategy focuses on delivering nutritious, portion-controlled products while helping reduce food waste—catering to modern, on-the-go consumer habits.
A Major Export Player
Bel Egypt’s impact extends beyond local markets. The plant exports 80% of its production to 19 countries, generating over €1.4 billion in export value over the last 15 years. The facility plays a critical role in supporting Bel Group’s two-pronged growth model, which emphasizes both sustainability and profitability.
The investment in new production lines not only boosts Egypt’s export capabilities but also enhances the country’s role as a regional food production hub. This aligns with Bel Egypt’s long-term vision of fostering economic growth through innovative food solutions that cater to diverse regional needs.
Commitment to Sustainability and Community Impact
Bel Egypt’s investment strategy goes beyond just expanding production. The company is deeply committed to sustainability and corporate social responsibility. The plant’s eco-friendly operations include the use of green energy solutions to reduce carbon emissions and the implementation of advanced waste management practices. Bel Egypt is also working on developing a wastewater treatment facility to further enhance its environmental impact.
Additionally, the company places a strong emphasis on social initiatives. Bel Egypt employs over 1,500 people, promoting an inclusive workplace that offers equal opportunities. Its initiatives extend to the wider community through partnerships and programs that support health, education, and job creation.
One key program, Enaya, provides healthcare benefits to retail partners and their families, while collaborations with the Egyptian Food Bank and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) aim to tackle malnutrition. Bel’s Brighter Future program, in partnership with SamuSocial International, focuses on creating sustainable employment opportunities for underprivileged youth in the region.
A Vision for the Future
Bel Egypt’s focus on local sourcing and sustainability continues to drive its success. With 90% of its packaging materials sourced from local Egyptian suppliers, the company reinforces its commitment to contributing to the local economy. As part of Bel Group’s global sustainability roadmap, the company is continuously exploring ways to reduce environmental impact, particularly through efforts to increase recyclable packaging and minimize waste.
Hany Arram, Regional Director for Bel Egypt and Northeast Africa, emphasized the company’s success: “Our performance reflects a long-term vision focused on innovation, quality, and trust. Supported by strong public-private partnerships, we have solidified our position as a key export hub, with 80% of our production reaching international markets.”
Charles Des Ormeaux, Marketing Director for Bel Group’s Northeast Africa and Middle East Cluster, shared the company’s ongoing commitment to quality and consumer satisfaction: “We’re always looking for ways to innovate and meet the needs of Egyptian families, ensuring that our products provide both enjoyment and nutritional value.”
As Bel Egypt continues to grow, its significant investments in industrial excellence, sustainability, and social impact make it a model for regional and global food production. Through these efforts, Bel Egypt is reinforcing its vital role in Egypt’s economy and its commitment to creating a more sustainable and inclusive future for its people.
