Large drop in small, mid-cap stocks after Kotak report

The withdrawal of recommendations for mid- and small-cap stocks by Kotak Institutional Equities caused panic among investors, resulting in a sell-off. The BSE small-cap index closed 4% down and the mid-cap index lost 3%. However, sporadic buying in large-cap stocks helped the sensex close slightly higher.
