Call of Duty: Modern Warfare first launched in October 2019, which was more than six years ago. It’s held in high regard by a lot of the player base, and, of course, it’s a game many played a lot of through the global pandemic of 2020.
What wasn’t on my 2026 bingo card was seeing a huge surge in players, at least on Steam. The game didn’t go onto Steam for a few years after launch, so it never really caught on, but in the last 24 hours, it has surged to an all-time high player count.
