The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), operating under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), today signed a series of partnership agreements and laid the foundation stone for the ‘Modern Khadi of New India’ in Amritkal of Independent India.
According to a press statement, The partnership is aimed at crafting a roadmap to modernize the KVIC and enhance the popularity of its products among the youth.
Manoj Kumar, Chairman, Khadi & Village Industries Commission distributed margin money subsidies amounting to Rs 150 crore to beneficiaries under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme.
According to the MoU signed with Prasar Bharati, very soon the anchors of DD News and DD International channels will be seen in Khadi apparels. Shri Kumar reiterated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Khadi has now become identity self-reliant India.
Kumar said the collaboration with Prasar Bharati is anticipated to be a milestone in achieving this vision. Furthermore, NBCC (India) Limited has taken up the responsibility to construct modern infrastructure for KVIC across the nation. To keep pace with technological advancements, KVIC has also partnered with Digital India Corporation.
The agreement with Prasar Bharati will substantiate to be a milestone in making Khadi popular among the youth. Along with this, NBCC (India) Limited will build new modern infrastructure for Khadi and Village Industries Commission across the country and to focus on keeping KVIC up-to-date with the latest technology, KVIC has joined hands with Digital India Corporation.
Addtionally, KVIC Chairman unveiled a dashboard and an ATR Portal, which are designed to facilitate efficient monitoring of the commission’s schemes and track the actions implemented based on the commission’s decisions, respectively.
“This initiative has transformed Khadi into a potent tool to combat unemployment. Remarkably, the trade of Khadi and village industry products surpassed Rs 1.34 lakh crore in the last financial year, generating 9.54 lakh new jobs, Kumar added.
