Recently, a handful of open-source privacy and cybersecurity projects claimed that their developer-focused Microsoft Accounts were abruptly suspended without any explanation or notice, including WindScribe, WireGuard, and VeraCrypt.
As a result, users were susceptible to potential malicious attacks. WireGuard creator Jason Donenfeld explained to PCMag, “I cannot sign drivers, which means I cannot ship updates for WireGuard for Windows.”
