Luxury car maker BMW launches first fully electric BMW iX1 car in India

German luxury car maker BMW recently launched its first fully electric vehicle, the BMW iX1, in India, marking a significant step in the luxury sports activity vehicle segment.

Vikram Pawah, President of BMW Group India, expressed that the launch of the electric BMW iX1 is a testament to BMW’s commitment to sustainable mobility and innovation.

He emphasized that BMW has been a pioneer in the luxury electric car market, and the introduction of the electric BMW iX1 reinforces the brand’s diverse electric portfolio. He highlighted that the vehicle offers a ‘Power of Choice’ to customers, allowing them to choose between petrol, diesel, and electric models.

BMW iX1 sold out on the launch day

According to the company’s statement, The electric model of the BMW X1 was completely sold out within a few hours of launching and will start making deliveries from the next month. 

Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “It is thrilling to receive such an extraordinary response for the first fully electric BMW iX1. Being sold-out completely on launch day itself is a great debut for the iX1 in India. True to its nature, it has charged ahead and exceeded. And this is just the beginning! We are confident that this exclusive electric SAV is poised to be a front-runner in the luxury electric car segment”.

Features and pricing of BMW iX1

The BMW iX1 is priced at Rs 66,90,000 ex-showroom, and it is available in several colours and upholstery options.

BMW said the vehicle combines modern design, advanced technology, and sustainability, offering a luxurious and environmentally friendly driving experience. The interior features a digital BMW Curved Display, harmoniously integrated into the cockpit, and a range of modern colours and textures creating a visually appealing atmosphere, it said.

The vehicle offers unique comfort with Active Seats for both the driver and the front passenger, featuring lumbar support and multiple massage programs. The BMW iX1 also comes with a large glass sunroof, a spacious luggage compartment, and a range of standard equipment emphasizing its luxurious character.

Additionally, the newly launched model is equipped with the fifth generation BMW eDrive technology, featuring a highly integrated drive unit and a compact high-voltage lithium-ion battery integrated into the floor, providing an attractive range of 417 – 440 kms.

The vehicle provides fast and hassle-free charging, with a charging time of 10%-80% in 29 min using a 130 kW DC Charger.

BMW Efficient Dynamics includes features such as Auto Start-Stop, ECO PRO mode, Brake-Energy Regeneration, Electronic Power Steering, Driving Experience Control switch and My Modes in Driving Experience Control.

What is BMW offering along with the car?

BMW India Financial Services is offering a complete package for loan, insurance, and vehicle services, designed especially for the BMW iX1, including 100% financing of accessories and complimentary 5-year roadside assistance.
