Apple joins Facebook parent Meta, TikTok against EU’s ‘gatekeeper’ status

Apple has filed a legal case against decisions made by the European Commission under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The company is joining Facebook Meta and TikTok-owner Bytedance in appealing their “gatekeeper” status. The EU designated six technology giants, including Apple, as gatekeepers under the DMA, requiring them to ensure their apps inter-operate with rivals. The details of Apple’s legal challenge have not been disclosed, but it is believed to include the company’s objection to the inclusion of its App Store on the gatekeeper list.
