The government announced significant milestones achieved under the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP) during the 61st Network Planning Group (NPG) meeting, commemorating two years of the initiative. Special Secretary (Logistics), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Sumita Dawra, chaired the meeting on December 1, where various departments presented their achievements and progress.

The textiles ministry reported the mapping of eight sanctioned PM Mitra Parks on the PM GatiShakti NMP portal. Simultaneously, the pharmaceuticals department celebrated the successful completion of 129 pharma clusters and 23 medical device cluster projects. The animal husbandry and dairying department also shared the accomplishment of mapping all training institutes across India.

During the meeting, the Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways provided details on commissioned and ongoing projects, with a focus on critical infrastructure. The status of mapping existing and proposed economic zones on the NMP platform, along with 100 identified critical infrastructure projects, was reviewed.

Sumita Dawra highlighted the achievements of PM GatiShakti NMP, including the onboarding of 39 individual line ministries and 36 states and union territories. The initiative saw the upload of 1,463 data layers, facilitating comprehensive infrastructure planning for over 1,300 projects across diverse Ministries/Departments, ensuring inclusive growth.

The National Master Plan has been instrumental in identifying and prioritizing critical gap infrastructure projects for FY24. A noteworthy allocation of Rs 75,000 crore was made in the Union budget for FY24, specifically targeting one hundred critical transport infrastructure projects. These projects aim to address last and first-mile connectivity for sectors such as ports, coal, steel, fertilizer, and food grains.

As the PM GatiShakti NMP continues to evolve, the government remains committed to fostering a robust infrastructure ecosystem and achieving strategic milestones for inclusive and sustainable growth.
