Over two months after the launch of its chatbot, ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal-led AI unicorn Krutrim AI has now released an Android app for its AI chatbot.

The app is now available on the Play Store and was released on May 2.

“We are thrilled to introduce Krutrim, India’s own AI assistant, designed to elevate your daily productivity and convenience. From writing assistance to information gathering, Krutrim empowers you with intelligent solutions every step of the way. Its key highlights include free access, tailored for India, multilingual support,” the company mentioned in the app’s description section.

The development was first reported by Moneycontrol.

Krutrim is also announcing its offerings for developers today. Speaking at the event, Aggarwal said that the startup wants to build a platform for Indian developers to build global apps with Krutrim.

He said the startup is launching a public stack and its AI cloud infrastructure for startups. Aggarwal also announced the launch of maps API for hyperlocal businesses.

This comes at a time when Ola is looking to take on Google with its own maps. Last month, Aggarwal said that most of Ola Cabs users are already using Ola Maps.

In January this year, Aggarwal’s electric vehicle startup Ola Electric announced software updates which would have its in-house Ola Maps.

Krutrim first unveiled its AI models in December last year. At the time, the startup also showcased the AI chatbot, which functions similarly to other open-source large language models (LLM) such as ChatGPT and Meta’s Llama 2.

The startup competes with domestic players such as Bharat GPT by CoRover.ai, Pragna by Soket Labs, Tech Mahindra-backed Project Indus, and Lightspeed-backed Sarvam AI in India.

Furthermore, Krutrim is working on developing indigenous data centres and aims to get into server-computing, edge-computing, and super-computers eventually. The startup is also working on manufacturing AI-optimised silicon chips.

In January, Krutrim became India’s first AI unicorn after raising a $50 Mn funding round led by a clutch of investors, including Matrix Partners India.

According to Inc42’s ‘India’s Generative AI Startup Landscape 2023’ report, the country’s GenAI market is projected to surpass $17 Bn by 2030 from $1.1 Bn in 2023, growing at a CAGR of 48%.
