Thanks to teardowns and durability (bend) testing, we’re learning a lot about the new ultra-thin iPad Pro’s design. Now, the folks at iFixit have performed their in-depth teardown, revealing a big internal change that could save “hours on repair times.” The video also offers our first look inside the new Apple Pencil Pro.

The iFixit teardown provides one of our best looks yet at the internals of the new M4 iPad Pro. There’s a close-up look at the new tandem OLED display, the repositioned front-facing camera, and perhaps most importantly, the battery.

The battery inside the new 13-inch M4 iPad Pro clocks in at 38.99 Wh, which is actually slightly smaller than the previous generation’s 40.33 Wh. Apple, of course, says you can still expect the same 10-hour battery life thanks to the M4’s efficiency improvements and better heat dissipation.

The big deal, however, is that you can now remove the iPad Pro’s battery without having to first remove “every major component,” as was the case with previous generations.

iFixit’s Shahram Mokhtari explains:

Despite the hassle of getting to those pull tabs, the fact that you can remove the battery without having to remove every major component inside this device is still a huge win for repairability. It’s a massive improvement over the previous generations.
