Infosys fresher onboarding: NITES approaches labour department over delay in fresher onboarding at Infosys

The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has submitted a complaint against India’s second-largest software services firm Infosys to the ministry of labour and employment over delay in onboarding of freshers, NITES said in a statement on Tuesday.

NITES is an organisation working for the welfare, and rights of IT, BPO and KPO professionals in India.

“We have filed a formal complaint against Infosys Limited for the ongoing exploitation and unprofessional treatment of over 2,000 young engineering graduates who were selected for System Engineer (SE) and Digital Specialist Engineer (DSE) roles during the 2022-23 recruitment drive,” Harpreet Singh Saluja, president, NITES, said in a statement.

These graduates, after being issued offer letters as early as April 2022, have been subjected to continuous delays in the onboarding process, unpaid pre-training programmes, and unexpected additional assessments, Saluja alleged.

Despite fulfilling all requirements on their part, these professionals have been kept in limbo for more than two years, causing immense frustration, anxiety, and uncertainty, he said.

“We believe that this is not just a breach of trust by one of India’s largest IT companies, but also a significant issue that impacts the future of our country’s IT workforce and economy. We are calling on the government to take immediate and strict action against Infosys to ensure that such exploitative practices are halted and that the rights of these young professionals are protected,” Saluja said.
