Following an attack on its IT systems, insurtech behemoth Policybazaar stated that there was no significant exposure of customer data.

“Certain vulnerabilities were identified in a part of Policybazaar Insurance Brokers” (“Policybazaar”) IT systems and the same were subject to illegal and unauthorised access,” Policybazaar said in a regulatory filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). In response to the attack, Policybazaar stated that it has made contact with authorities. “Policybazaar has contacted the appropriate authorities and is taking appropriate legal action,” the filing continued. According to Policybazaar, an audit was underway to properly assess the damage while the vulnerabilities discovered were fixed. The insurtech company also stated that its information security team was reviewing the situation with external advisors.
