Ola Electric and Ather Energy, the two prominent electric mobility startups at the forefront of driving EV adoption in the country, saw a significant drop in escooter registrations in July.
While Ola Electric has seen a consistent decline in vehicle registrations over the last three months, the drop in Ather Energy registrations came as a surprise given the startup’s recent month-on-month growth in vehicle registrations. In fact, while Ola Electric has been chastised on several occasions for fires involving its escooters, Ather Energy’s escooters have not been involved in any such incidents. According to Vahan data from August 2, Ather Energy saw a 66% MoM drop in vehicle registrations in July to 1,283 units. In May and June, the figures were 3,338 and 3,829, respectively.
