Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his address to the nation from the Red Fort on India’s 76th Independence Day that the people behind India’s startups came from Tier 2, 3 cities, and the country’s villages.

“We’re looking at Digital India and startups.” Who are these people [hiding behind them]? “This is talent from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, as well as talent from villages somewhere,” the Prime Minister said in his ninth consecutive address to the nation. “These are our youngsters who are taking on the world today with new innovations,” the Prime Minister continued. PM Modi also discussed the colonial mindset and how India needed to grow out of it in his speech.
