The National Restaurants Association of India (NRAI) has gone all out against foodtech behemoths Zomato and Swiggy over their new offerings.
In a statement, the NRAI urged all of its partner restaurants to make a ‘informed decision’ on Zomato Pay and Swiggy Diner, which it said could ‘adversely impact’ the overall restaurant industry in the long run. Zomato Pay enables partner restaurants to target engagement by offering discounts and promotions to customers directly through the app. It also provides a payment service to users who access the app directly. Swiggy Diner, on the other hand, allows users to book tables at restaurants at ‘discounted prices.’
