Tata Group’s lifestyle ecommerce platform Tata Cliq is planning to open physical stores to compete with rivals such as Nykaa, SUGAR Cosmetics, and Purplle, as the company intends to sell beauty and cosmetic products through these stores, which will be located on high-end streets and malls.
According to an ET report, the Tata Cliq board believes the beauty segment is a scalable business. Add to that the returning-to-work trend, and store footfalls have increased as consumers prefer in-store visits. Cliq intends to build small format stores first in metro areas, then in Tier 2 cities. Tata Digital may also take over the company from parent company Tata Unistore.
