UIDAI seeking partnerships with private players to advance digital India initiative

UIDAI CEO Saurabh Garg expressed interest in exploring a collaboration between the unique identification authority and private players to advance the Digital India initiative.

“While privacy and consent remain paramount, we look forward to collaborating with various private sector players for Digital India,” Garg said. On the sidelines of the Global Fintech Fest 2022, he had a fireside chat with Meta India’s head of public policy, Rajiv Aggarwal. Garg boasted about the scope of Aadhaar, claiming that the unique identification project was used by 300 central schemes and 650 state-sponsored schemes. Garg told the audience that Aadhaar was being used to improve the delivery of financial services. He also stated that the agency was collaborating with regulators to increase its presence in the fintech space.
