Careem captains can now cancel a trip after 10 minutes if the customer is late, according to a recent update.

“We’ve made some changes to the release times for captains in the UAE as part of our efforts to ensure that ride-hailing trips are dependable and fair for captains. A Careem spokesperson told Arabian Business that the release time is the period of time after which a captain may cancel a trip in the event of a no-show. If the rider does not start the ride after 10 minutes, customers will be charged. When a rider cancels within five minutes of booking a trip, they typically pay AED12.
