UAE ready to launch flying taxis after implementation of new regulations

Share via:

After new regulations were implemented, flying taxis in the UAE took another step closer to becoming a reality.

The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority has issued the world’s first national vertiport regulation. Vertical airports, as the name implies, are facilities for vertically taking off airborne vehicles such as air taxis. The new regulations encourage rapid growth and ongoing global investment in the UAE’s highly progressive and competitive aviation industry. They address vertiport design and operational requirements while ensuring a regulatory environment that promotes the efficient and safe operation of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft. The proposed amendments to the new draught regulation have been released for industry consultation, and the final version will be published in the first quarter of 2023.
