As India celebrated New Year’s Eve last weekend, Zomato and Swiggy saw unprecedented increases in order numbers, as they do every year.

Deepinder Goyal, CEO of Zomato, tweeted on Saturday evening that the foodtech giant saw a 45% increase in order volumes on December 31, 2022, compared to the previous year. It should be noted that Zomato processed over 2.5 million orders on New Year’s Eve the previous year. Swiggy had delivered 1.3 million orders as of 6:33 p.m. on December 31. Blinkit, a quick commerce platform owned by Zomato, also saw some unexceptional numbers on the day.
