Google developed an AI that can generate music from text descriptions, but won’t release it

Google’s impressive new AI system can generate music in any genre based on a text description. However, due to the risks, the company has no immediate plans to release it.

Google’s MusicLM isn’t the first generative AI system for songwriting. Other attempts have included Riffusion, an AI that composes music by visualising it, Dance Diffusion, Google’s own AudioML, and OpenAI’s Jukebox. However, due to technical constraints and limited training data, none of them have been able to produce songs that are particularly complex in composition or high-fidelity.
