No plans to shut down WhiteHat Jr, merely optimising it: Byju’s

Byju’s denied media reports on Thursday that the edtech giant is shutting down its platform WhiteHat Jr, which teaches kids coding, math, and music. In 2020, Byju’s paid $300 million for Mumbai-based WhiteHat Jr. According to the company, it is only optimising the platform for organic and efficient growth.

“With regard to the specific question on WhiteHat Jr, we have no plans to shut it down,” said a spokesperson for Byju. “We’re simply optimising it for organic and efficient growth. We remain steadfast in our commitment to providing world-class educational experiences and solutions that enable students to reach their full potential.” Byju’s group companies, WhiteHat Jr and Toppr, laid off about 600 employees last year. It was described as a cost-cutting measure.
