Billionaire Elon Musk reached out to artificial intelligence researchers in recent weeks to discuss the formation of a new research lab to develop an alternative to chatbot ChatGPT.

According to reports, Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk is in talks to hire Igor Babuschkin, a researcher who recently left Alphabet’s DeepMind AI unit, to lead the development of a competitor to the high-profile chatbot created by startup OpenAI. Babuschkin specialises in the machine-learning models that power chat bots like ChatGPT, which has already passed MBA exams, written prose, and poetry and is rapidly replacing workers in the US. Babuschkin stated in an interview that Musk’s goal is not to create a chatbot with fewer content safeguards.
