Abu Dhabi announced new food delivery rules

Share via:

The Abu Dhabi Police have announced eight requirements that drivers must follow for their own safety while delivering food to customers.

The Directorate of Traffic and Patrols stated that these requirements are part of its ongoing efforts to familiarise delivery bike drivers with traffic safety rules, avoid traffic accidents, their causes, effects, and losses, and improve safety for this group of road users. She also emphasised the importance of continuing her efforts to educate this group on the fundamentals of traffic safety, as well as to introduce traffic regulations and laws that must be followed on the road, safety requirements for motorbike drivers, and avoiding traffic accidents.

The external dimensions of the food delivery box must be 50 centimetres in width, length, and height, according to the most recent requirements. The box’s edges must be covered with a phosphorescent reflector and must not have any sharp corners.

The delivery box must also have clear identification writing visible from a distance of 20 metres, according to the authority. The front hatch must be provided for opening the box and must be made of fibreglass. It must also be securely fastened to allow for easy opening.

Furthermore, the delivery box must be attached to a bike seat or a rear saddle. The chassis base number must also be printed on the delivery box. According to the authority, this is the same as the bike’s registration number.
