Delivery partner’s strike over ‘pay structure changes’ disrupts Blinkit services in Delhi-NCR

A strike by delivery partners of Zomato-owned Blinkit in Delhi-NCR over pay structure changes has disrupted the platform’s services in the region.

“I apologise for the inconvenience. “Your store is being serviced,” reads a message from the startup on its app in some parts of the national capital.

According to The Morning Context, Blinkit implemented a new pay structure for delivery partners on Monday midnight, under which the partners would have to book their time slots and complete the targets assigned to them. They would be compensated per kilometre. However, the delivery partners claim that this will lower their earnings.

In response to Inc42’s inquiry, a Blinkit spokesperson stated, “We have introduced a new payout structure for our partners that compensates them based on the effort they put in to deliver an order.” This is an opt-in exercise, and our teams are on the ground to answer partners’ questions.”

However, the company did not provide a breakdown of the new pay structure and stated that it is working to bring all impacted stores online as soon as possible.

“Although some locations have experienced disruptions,” the spokesperson added, “we are actively engaging with our partners to get the stores back up and running for our customers.”
