Warner Bros. Discovery has announced the launch of its new streaming service, “Max”, which promises an improved user experience with an expanded feature set, better performance and enhanced recommendations. The new service will combine content from HBO Max and Discovery+ into a single offering and feature an updated user interface that will be delivered seamlessly to existing HBO Max subscribers across most platforms.

While Discovery+ subscribers will still have the option to watch through their standalone app, the company has promised an improved streaming experience across the board with the introduction of Max. The new service aims to address some of the technical shortcomings that were present in HBO Max and Discovery+, offering better user engagement and retention, more regular viewership and easier, more personalized discovery of content.

JB Perrette, CEO and president of global streaming and games, acknowledged the shortcomings of both services during the launch event, saying, “we needed to do the basics much better”. He went on to say that the new Max service will offer a number of benefits, including a revamped user experience, more personalized recommendations, and improved engagement with viewers.

The new service will also feature a range of original programming, including a new Game of Thrones series, which is sure to be of particular interest to fans of the popular franchise. With the launch of Max, Warner Bros. Discovery aims to compete with other streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video.

The streaming landscape has become increasingly crowded in recent years, with a range of new services entering the market. However, Warner Bros. Discovery believes that the combination of HBO Max and Discovery+ content, along with an improved user experience, will help it stand out from the crowd and attract a loyal audience of subscribers.
