9Unicorns and Venture Catalysts have announced the third edition of DDay (Demo Day) scheduled to take place on April 18, 2023. The virtual event will be streamed in India, Singapore, London, USA, and Dubai, providing an opportunity for more than 20 early and growth-stage startups to pitch their businesses to over 1.5K global and Indian investors.

The event is part of the initiative to foster the next generation of unicorns from India. India is home to over 84K startups, attracting a lot of attention from global investors due to its diversity and wide economic classes, indicating a market with tremendous potential. Dr Apoorva Ranjan Sharma, the cofounder and managing director of Venture Catalysts and 9Unicorns, said the event would provide Seed and Series A stage startups with an opportunity to showcase their businesses to a large number of global investors.

DDay is not just another pitch event but a launchpad for startups to put their businesses on a high growth trajectory. The previous two editions of DDay, in 2021 and 2022, saw startups raising a combined funding of $360 Mn from over 1.2K global and Indian VCs. Among the startups that raised capital in the past two DDay events are VideoVerse, BluSmart, Rooter, Cusmat, and Algobulls.

SaaS-based video editing platform VideoVerse raised $46.8 Mn in a Series B funding round led by A91 Partners, while electric vehicle startup BluSmart and esports startup Rooter bagged $25 Mn each in their respective funding rounds from investors like Mayfield and March Capital, respectively. Meanwhile, seed-stage startups like B2B skilling service startup Cusmat and AI-based investment platform Algobulls raised $3.5 Mn and $2 Mn in their respective funding rounds.

DDay has become an important platform for startups to showcase their ideas and innovations, and for investors to identify the next generation of unicorns from India. The event has contributed significantly to the growth of the Indian startup ecosystem and will continue to do so in the years to come.
