May Day long week-end rush: 80 lakh passengers estimated to travel by bus

India’s largest online bus ticketing platform gears up to cater to travellers with over 52,000 Bus Services Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra & Karnataka Among Regions with high travel demand
National, 29th April 2023 – redBus, India’s largest online bus ticketing platform, is gearing up to cater to travellers during the May Day Long weekend this summer, with over 3,500 private bus operators and 17 RTCs on the platform offering a total of over 52,000 bus services across India. 80 lakh passengers are estimated to travel by bus over the upcoming long weekend.

According to data from redBus, the highest demand for travel around the extended weekend is between Bangalore and Chennai. Major states with high demand for travel include Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

redBus observed a 20% increase in reservations during the long weekend compared to the previous year. The top 10 routes on the redBus platform witnessing a spurt in traffic for the weekend are, Delhi – Manali, Lucknow – Delhi, Indore – Bhopal, Guwahati – Tezpur, Dibrugarh – Guwahati, Durgapur – Kolkata, Bengaluru – Chennai, Vijayawada – Hyderabad, Mumbai – Pune, Durgapur – Kolkata.

On the redBus platform, Delhi is witnessing the highest growth in terms of ticket sales during this period, recording about 46% higher bookings as compared to the last year. This is followed by Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune.
