Kerala announces plan to bring NRIs home with Dubai startup centre

Share via:

After sending a large number of Keralites to the Gulf for decades to earn petrodollars, the state is now wooing its expat sons and daughters to become entrepreneurs.

Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), the state’s nodal agency for startups, has created a one-of-a-kind project called Startup Infinity to provide non-resident Indians (NRIs) with mentorship and other assistance, including financial assistance, in order to prepare them to become startup entrepreneurs. Furthermore, KSUM will assist both expat and resident startups in launching their ventures in various global locations.

The pilot project on this will be launched by KSUM in the UAE, which has a sizable NRI population, a large portion of which is state-owned. Next month, the agency will open the first ‘Startup Infinity’ centre in Dubai, which will be a plug-and-play business centre for prospective expat entrepreneurs.
