Tesla has unveiled new footage of its Tesla Bots, showcasing a production-ready chassis that can walk forward without the stumbling seen in their initial reveal. The humanoid robots, as demonstrated by Elon Musk during a shareholder meeting event, have also demonstrated the ability to pick up items and recognize objects.
The original unveiling of Tesla’s Bot took place last year at the company’s AI Day event, where only a deconstructed version of the robot was shown, and it struggled to walk forward, let alone perform any manual tasks. A version that resembled a production model was also displayed but was stationary on a stand and could only wave to the audience. However, the recent video demonstrates robots that closely resemble the model presented at the event, capable of independent movement, albeit at a slow pace.
The video highlights several updates to the Tesla Bot project, including motor torque control, environment discovery and memorization, AI training based on human-tracked movements, and object manipulation. One Tesla Bot was shown picking up objects from one container and placing them in another, which exemplified the bot’s AI training from a human demonstration.
After seven months of development, it appears that Tesla’s bot is progressing towards becoming a tangible product, surpassing its initial stage as a person in a suit. Following the delivery of Tesla’s highly anticipated Cybertrucks, it is expected that production of the Tesla Bot will commence.
The introduction of Tesla Bots has the potential to revolutionize various industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, and household tasks. However, specific details about the release date, pricing, and market availability of Tesla Bots have not yet been disclosed. Nonetheless, this recent demonstration reaffirms Tesla’s commitment to advancing robotics technology and exploring new avenues beyond electric vehicles.
