Technology firms in the UAE need to be proactive in providing more jobs for women, according to Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, President of American University of Sharjah (AUS) and of Sharjah Research, Technology, and Innovation Park (SRTIP).
Sheikha Bodour has asked CEOs of technology businesses to be more proactive in their inclusion by incorporating women’s needs from the start. She stated that mankind must learn from its mistakes and grow without “leaving half of the population behind.”
Sheikha Bodour, citing regional success, stated that 56% of UAE government university graduates in STEM subjects were women, while in Saudi Arabia, the ratio of women in ICT has improved from 7% to 28% since 2018, surpassing the EU and G20 standards of 17.5%.
