The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, welcomed the heads of delegations from G20 nations, guest countries, and international organizations to the 18th G20 Summit in New Delhi. The theme of India’s G20 presidency, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – One Earth, One Family, One Future,’ signifies a global roadmap aimed at achieving sustainable, inclusive, and human-centric development.
During its G20 presidency, India has been emphasizing key issues such as inclusive growth, digital innovation, climate resilience, and equitable global health access. The G20 member countries collectively represent approximately 85% of global GDP, over 75% of global trade, and about two-thirds of the world’s population. The G20 includes Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the US, and the European Union (EU).
The backdrop of the summit featured a replica of the Konark Wheel from Odisha’s Sun temple in Puri, which symbolizes India’s ancient wisdom, advanced civilization, and architectural excellence. The wheel, with 24 spokes adapted into the Tricolour, represents the concept of ‘Kaalchakra,’ signifying time, progress, and continuous change. It serves as a powerful symbol of the democratic ideals and commitment to societal progress, reflecting the resilience of democratic values.
