Chandigarh Angels Network in collaboration with Chandigarh Administration hosted a Meet & Greet on Saturday, 4th November 2023. The event congregated the Administration, CAN’s portfolio startups from all over India, Angel Investors/HNIs, curated well-doing startups, and heads of all startup communities/organizations/partner networks & funds from the region.
The event commenced with a Welcome note and Introduction to Chandigarh Angels work in the field of Investments and forming the community of successful entrepreneurs turned Angel investors supporting new-age startups solving Pan India and world-level problems. Chandigarh Angels has been a well-known Angels Network across India and many of its portfolio are big names today.
In the welcome address, the Chief Guest – Secretary Industries, Ms. Hargunjit Kaur , Chandigarh Administration shared the administration’s interest and intent to nurture startups in the Chandigarh region. She highlighted the Administration’s endeavour to be an enabler in the existing start-up ecosystem. To support Administration’s intent, the Chandigarh Angels Network is in process of introducing several initiatives to nurture startups from the region which include investing more in local startups, nurturing and guiding them to help them become world-level companies and collaborating with all big networks and funds to attract their interest in the region’s startups. As a part of this initiative Chandigarh Angels Network announced its investment in a local startup called JaggerCane, a Jaggery-based brand supporting sugarcane farmers. The startup with a vision to replace white sugar and substitute it with Jaggery products on a routine basis from breakfast to after-meal refreshers has a range of products made with Jaggery that are highly hygienic and tasty. Chandigarh Angels Network also announced its initiative to partner with all known networks and funds from Pan India to co-invest in startups from the region.
The event witnessed the much-anticipated startup pitches, which were selected after a highly rigorous evaluation process. 3 startups from different industries and geography pitched to Chandigarh Angels (HNIs) for investment into their respective ventures. In addition to this, as a value add for start-ups a panel discussion on cash flow management for SME’s and startups was conducted with speakers from Finofii , SBI Mutual Fund and Harvesting Farmers Network.
The event also witnessed some of local emerging startups Ride Smart- Tricity’s first app-based fully electric cab service, Heliware- AI Powered 3D Geospatial Insight Platform, Jagger Cane- Brand of Jaggery based tasty and hygienic products, paymart which is digitizing rural india.
