Global technology services giant Accenture on Friday said it has elevated Arundhati Chakraborty to the position of group chief executive of operations, replacing Yusuf Tayob who has been made the company’s global communications, media and technology (CMT) industry practices chair.

The changes are effective from September 1, Accenture said in a statement. Chakraborty will continue to be based in Bengaluru while Yayob will be based out of the US.

“Arundhati will be responsible for growing the company’s $10 billion operations business and bringing even greater innovation to Accenture’s clients, tapping vast opportunities created with generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and automation,” the statement said, adding that clients look to reinvent their operations using tech, data and AI.

Chakraborty, who has more than 30 years of industry experience, is the global lead for delivery and transformation operations, leading 185,000 people across more than 125 intelligent operations centres, focusing on compressed transformation through analytics, AI and automation.

“With incredibly deep expertise partnering with clients to drive large-scale transformations in their operations, Arundhati is uniquely positioned to lead this critical part of our business,” said Julie Sweet, chair and CEO of Accenture. “Arundhati’s commitment to developing talent and new services based on GenAI and automation make her the ideal leader for our operations business.”

Chakraborty and Tayob remain on the Accenture Global Management Committee.

Earlier this year, ET reported that several large global companies, including Accenture, are placing their senior leaders in India with new reporting and controlling positions and teams reporting to them from across the globe.Chakraborty will continue to be based in Bengaluru and Yayob will also remain in his new role based out of the US.

Tayob, with two decades of CMT experience, has held many leadership positions at Accenture, including leading the North America CMT consulting practice and the salesforce business group at Accenture Technology.
