Telangana Govt Signs MoU with OpenAI for AI Advancement

The Telangana government inked 26 MoUs with global tech giants including OpenAI, Meta, NVIDIA, AWS and Microsoft, and local players such as Yotta Data Services and CDAC, among others.

These Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed across seven key sectors, focusing on computer infrastructure, centres of excellence, skill development, startup innovation, generative AI, research and collaboration, and data annotation.

Telangana is also climbing up the ladder by setting up an AI City near Hyderabad. Spread over 200 acres, it will house companies specialising in AI.

Signs Key Agreements at Global AI Summit

Key agreements were also signed to boost the state’s AI infrastructure, including GPU-powered AI cloud centre in Hyderabad, built by Yotta Data Services. This will serve as a tech backbone, driving AI research, data processing, and computational excellence. 

A Centre of Excellence is also on the horizon, focusing on AI advancements in public health, e-sports, gaming, and digital content, through a partnership with PATH and Nazara Technologies.

In another collaboration, Nextwave, AWS, and Microsoft are joining forces with Telangana to upskill 2.5 lakh students and professionals, providing them with AI expertise that will fuel the state’s future workforce. This talent pipeline will be crucial as the state cements its reputation as an AI leader.

Telangana is also leveraging Meta’s generative AI technologies including the Llama 3.1 model to enhance governance and public services, pushing the envelope in AI-enabled e-governance. Meanwhile, a three-year partnership with NVIDIA will see 5,000 students trained in AI across 200 institutions, further strengthening the state’s AI talent pool.

On the research front, Telangana’s partnership with J-PAL will drive AI-focused research to tackle critical developmental challenges, underlining the state’s commitment to using AI for social good.

In another major win, Kaynes Technology India Ltd has signed an MoU to establish a INR 2,800 crore Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Hyderabad, positioning the city at the forefront of semiconductor technology, a critical component for AI-driven industries.
