mixed reality hit ‘Little Cities: Diorama’

More mixed reality games that became popular on Meta Quest headsets are coming to Apple Vision Pro. Little Cities: Diorama offers an all-new version for Apple Vision Pro. Notably, it blends your real-world environment with a virtual city you create. Considering the mixed reality fidelity on Vision Pro, this should be the best version of Little Cities.

Here’s what you can expect from Little Cities: Diorama, according to Purple Yonder and nDreams Studio:

A collaboration between Little Cities’ developer Purple Yonder and XR specialists Near Light: an nDreams Studio, Little Cities: Diorama empowers players to create a bustling mini-metropolis and place it directly into their world.

Little Cities’ award-winning game design has earned widespread critical acclaim since its original launch in May 2022. Little Cities won the NYX Gold Award for Meta Quest – Evolving Game and has been nominated for the TIGA and MCV/DEVELOP awards.

On December 5, Little Cities arrives on Apple Arcade. Apple announced more titles today as part of a catalog expansion happening through the new year.

Apple Vision Pro still needs a heavy hitter title like Batman: Arkham Shadow in my opinion. Still, Arcade has been an effective vehicle for delivering mixed reality and virtual reality titles that seriously shine on visionOS.

Another must-have for Apple Vision Pro? Synth Riders. My first exposure to this title was during a press-developer meetup session at WWDC 2024. The team behind the game clearly loves music. I happened to be wearing a The Cure t-shirt, which felt especially relevant. Needless to say, I was impressed with the gameplay. Even better, Apple Arcade inclusion means there are no in-app purchases. Instead, the game includes song packs that would normally be standalone purchases on Meta’s headset.

I’m someone who spent way too much of my childhood designing towns and theme parks on PlayStation and PC. For that reason, I’m looking forward to getting my hands on Little Cities: Diorama for Apple Vision Pro next month.
