Gujarat Introduces a Drone Policy and plans to add 25,000 jobs

The Government of Gujarat introduced the ‘Drone Promotion and Usage Policy’ – a drone policy for the state with the aim of creating new opportunities in the sector.

The policy states that in order to operate, drone makers, users, and pilots must register on the Digital Sky platform and obtain a special identification number and a demarcation area from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The state administration announced a policy that will allow various departments to deploy drones to fulfil various needs for a period of five years. The Gujarati government has requested that within the next six months, various government agencies, PSUs, and other organisations develop plans to encourage the use of drones in their respective regions.
